No. 3 — “It Changed How I See Myself, I Can Honestly Say…”

This boudoir session in Kennewick, WA was one of my favorite sessions to date. Kalli traveled 3 HOURS for her boudoir session and she was so nervous when she showed up! I was sooo excited to be able to get her relaxed and having fun when we started shooting. One of the ways I like to do that is by showing images from the back of the camera. Sometimes it takes a little reassurance that all of the crazy poses we’re doing are actually working, so I like to show what we’re creating as we go through the shoot!

Hear what she has to say about her boudoir session experience below:

What were you most nervous about for your session?

“How my outfits would fit, and just meeting and hoping there was good chemistry, it’s important to click with someone when you’re having photos taken like these.”

Have you wanted to do a session for some time? Or was this decision impulsive?

“A combination of both, I have wanted to do a session, but seeing the model call and reading about the message being spread about body positivity and making women feel empowered is what sold me on applying and going through with everything.”

How would you describe the actual session experience? Did you have nerves? How did it feel to be in front of the camera?

“I had SO much fun, Melody was absolutely incredible at making sure I was comfortable, and she’s so sweet, the hardest part for me was trying not to laugh because I was having fun.”

How did you feel after the shoot? And then when you saw your photos for the first time?

“I wasn’t used to having makeup on because I go more natural usually, but my friends hyped me up ALOT and made me feel amazing, when I first saw my photos I almost cried, I did a video chat reveal with Melody because I live a couple of hours away and I was just in disbelief that the person I was looking at was me, it was a truly empowering experience.”

Has anything changed for you since your boudoir experience and seeing your gallery? How has boudoir impacted your body image as a woman?

“My reveal was definitely a moment I won’t forget, I think it will truly come full circle once I get my digital images and can stare at them for awhile and realize that it’s real. It also changed how I see myself, I can honestly say, I don’t think I have ever been in a situation where I felt completely open and not judged, it was empowering…Parts of my body that I haven’t always felt confident about were highlighted and I am still in shock, I definitely gained confidence, and honestly I am just so excited to share them with my fiancé and show my girlfriends!”

What was your favorite thing about the experience?

“Melody, she is such a happy person, and I adore her for that, she is like a friend I have always had that is just SO easy to be around, it made the whole experience that much better because I feel like I gained someone in my life that is just a total badass spreading this incredible message.”

What would you tell anyone interested, but maybe hesitant, to book a session of their own?

“Just do it, it will literally change everything for you. There aren’t unrealistic expectations of what you should look like, you get to just be yourself and it is SO much fun! Also, I will never go to anyone else for photos like this ever again, you’ll love Melody, she’s one of those people putting the vibes into the universe that matter!”
